The results showed that only 50 people under the age of 65 found jobs, in other words, 50 people were unemployed. According to the study, 99 percent of respondents in Hong Kong showed that they had no plans to return to Hong Kong despite difficulties.

Lack of confidence in your English skills is a barrier to job hunting

The study showed that only 52 percent of respondents aged 65 and under found jobs, and 47 percent said their work did not match their skills and experience, 24 percent were dissatisfied with their salary, and one in five said they were overworked.

They believed that the main cause of entering the job market was the lack of confidence in their English speaking skills. Only 11% said their spoken English was "very good", including failure and lack of professional advice and support; another 8 said they felt isolated at work, and 5% reported discrimination.


40% describe deteriorating financial stability 10% as "serious deterioration"

Forty percent said their financial stability had deteriorated and 10 percent said there had been a "serious deterioration", with the main factor being the higher than expected cost of living. Still, 99% said they had no plans to return to Hong Kong.
