LONDON, Friday) - -The Supreme Court today rejected a controversial government plan to send illegal migrants to Luanda and upheld a lower court ruling that the plan was illegal, a setback for Prime Minister Sunak (Rishi Sunak).

The five judges unanimously endorsed the Supreme Court of Appeal, arguing that the policy did not consistent with the UK's obligations under international treaties.

In a 56-page ruling, the judge agreed with the lower court's June ruling that Luanda could force asylum seekers and refugees to countries where they could face persecution.

Mr Sunak's ruling Conservative party insisted the plan was crucial to reducing "illegal" immigration across the Channel in small boats and would be at the heart of the dispute in the next general election.

Britain signed a deal with Luanda last April to send undocumented migrants to temporary asylum centers in Luanda, but the ruling annulled the deal and appeared to undermine Sunak's immigration policy and widen the divide between more daring conservative lawmakers and moderates.
