The Education Bureau announced earlier that the Hong Kong Excellence Scholarship Scheme (Scholarship Scheme) will be accepted from now until 29 December. Eligible Hong Kong students who intend to enter the bachelor's degree or research program at a world-renowned university outside Hong Kong in the 2024 / 25 academic year can receive a maximum subsidy of RMB 500,000 per year, considering the application methods and conditions!
The Hong Kong Excellence Scholarship program, launched in 2014, aims to fund local students to study in world-renowned universities outside Hong Kong, so as to cultivate outstanding talents with global vision, international network and first-class education, and ultimately enhance Hong Kong's competitiveness as an Asian international capital in a global knowledge-based economic environment. Since the launch, about 845 students have received the first nine terms of the scholarship program.
Hong Kong Excellence Scholarship Program application requirement
1.) Have the right of residence or the right of entry or enter Hong Kong with a one-way permit; and
2.) Living in Hong Kong for three consecutive years before the overseas courses.
3.) Bachelor's degree program: Students educated in formal schools in Hong Kong (including local courses or non-local courses)
4.) Institute courses: meet Items 1 and 2, or be eligible
5.) Winmust take designated courses and promise to return to Hong Kong for at least two years after graduation
Hong Kong Excellence Scholarship Program Scope of funding
Scholarship winners can receive a tuition maximum of 300,000 per year, a maximum of 100 places, and do not need to pass the income assets review. In addition, students who need additional support will receive up to HK $200,000 per year to pay for living and other study expenses.
And funding courses, will reference by QS, Shanghai jiaotong university, times higher education and American news and world report four global university rankings of the top 100 universities / colleges, such as Nanyang technological university in Singapore medical bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery (MBBS), Oxford university general medicine (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery), etc. If the applicant provides sufficient evidence, options outside the list will also be considered.
Hong Kong Excellence Scholarship Program Application method
Eligible Hong Kong students must submit through the online application system on or before December 29 (6 pm). The documents supporting the application include application confirmation documents from the relevant university / institution, recommendation letters written by the principal or referees, completed principal review (only for applicants for the bachelor's degree program), research plan (only for applicants for the research program), etc. Relevant documents must be submitted through the online application system before the same period. Overdue applications will not be accepted.
Hong Kong Excellence Scholarship Program Selection process
Preliminary selection (January-February 2024): Upon receipt of the application, the Scholarship Programme Secretariat will conduct a preliminary selection based on the applicant's academic performance and the selected universities / institutions and courses. Applicants can apply for a combination of up to 10 universities / colleges and courses.
Selection (February-March 2024): During the selection process, the Scholarship Programme Secretariat will evaluate the applicants based on their academic performance and academic characteristics other than personal characteristics, so as to select a group of applicants for the interview. Selected applicants will be given individually notified.
Interview (from April 2024): Only applicants who have been selected and have unconditional admission to the selected university / university and courses will be invited to the interview and their overall qualifications will be assessed. The final winners will be decided by the Scholarship Program Secretariat after consulting the Scholarship Program consultant, and the selection will be referred to the individual comments made by the interview team on individual applicants.
In addition, in addition to financial support, leaders and experts from different industries will serve as mentors for individual winners, providing guidance, advice and guidance during the scholarship period. Winners will also be invited to attend activities as "Hong Kong Student Ambassador" at the Office, including receptions, seminars, exhibitions, training, festival celebrations, concerts and performances, and to apply for internships from different government offices and departments and enterprises.
